God's Gifts and how we use them...

I have to look back in my personal history and think of where all of my desires for writing have come from. I mean, right now, my life is lacking some structure (because I am not in seminary yet) but I will talk about my life as a 7th grader. I was being homeschooled at the time. I wasn't even 13 yet, but I was being taught by my parents. My mom taught English and History, and my dad taught Math and Science. While I was being taught by my mom, we were practicing journaling and we had talked about Anne Frank. My first real journal had a name too, it was "Pluto" (I was in my Sailor Moon phase, and had just started seriously getting into anime at the time) I remember reading her diary and watching the movie that came out in the 1960s. I watched how she had struggled to make her life something even in the midst of oppresion from the Nazis, and I was inspired because of her life. I really started developing a passion to write seriously around 13 or 14. Mostly it was journaling. I wanted to record events in my life, and I feel that it was because of her life that I wanted to see every moment in mine remembered, whether it was something as significant as getting a calling from the Lord to serve in Japan or as small as spending the day in New York City with my family, I would write it down.

Her diary is a master piece because it doesn't leave anything hidden, it tells all. Blogging has become what journaling was for me at 13. I am much better as a writer. Perhaps that is what inspired me to write my book the way that I did. I hope that it will get published and be an inspiration (despite its dark content) I feel I have used God's gift through someone who never had the chance to live her life. Anne Frank and her family that was killed didn't have the opportunity to hear the gospel preached and accept that Jesus was their Messiah. People shouldn't have been robbed of that opportunity, but they were and it was Satan's doing that started such an atrocity.

Pray for those who do not know Jesus yet. I feel that we are running out of time. The world is changing and it won't be too long before the world is too unaccepting of Christ and his sacrifice.

Remember your talents and abilities because God is the one giving them to you.

The 365 Project - Day 196 (4 more days)

Finally, a picture with some depth! Most nights in the summer, my family has spent time sitting down together around the table after dinner eating fruits like these. Tonight was especially good because my mom had found these amazing coffee pots and it perked on the stove. It's a great night when you could have fruit, a good cup of coffee and sit down at the table just talking. That's what a regular night is for me this summer.

2nd Kings 2 - Flashdevo

When I read this chapter, it is one of those moments (much like in 1st Kings where you wish you were around to see it happen) Okay there was a chariot of fire that took Elijah up into heaven, and 2 bears that come out and maul 42 kids at once!!!!!

The 365 Project - Day 195 (and introduction to 2nd Kings)

Since getting into the TV Show Glee after it came out last year, I find myself interested in more and more of the music that is featured on the show. So today, on the way into work with my mom, we had stopped at Faith Farm (a local thrift shop) and I was browsing through some old records and found a KISS album. I think it is hilarious that these are here, they probably won't play from all the scratches that the record had on it, but the fact that it was a KISS album made it funny to me. I did manage to find some really great books for $3!!!!! I got 5 books that probably would have cost me more than 50 dollars at Barnes and Noble for $3. It just goes to show you how you have to be paying careful attention to what you might find in the store.

I want to stay focused on my passion for writing, and I have to read God's word, it goes hand in hand for me. So in addition to doing this project with this pictures, that has taken on a personal inspiration to me, as opposed to what others inspired me to do, I am going to finish this project. I want it done. I will still blog, I may even still take plenty of pictures, but my reasons for doing this blog in the first place were to impress someone, and now I wish I had never thought of doing it. I have fallen victim to trying to impress people before, and now I realize I have to do what pleases God as opposed to what pleases other people because it is so stupid to try and please people who are only going to let you down in the long run. The people that we try to impress are like leaves on a tree, you are the tree. You think that these people will stay with you forever, and then when it comes time for them to move on, they move on, it's that simple. I was trying to impress a leaf, when all along this leaf was going to move on, and you know what, that's perfectly fine. Let them move on! I will grow new leaves anyway.

FLASHDEVO
2nd Kings 1

25 chapters in 25 days? I think I can handle that.

Here in this chapter, we have steered away from Solomon's family and are focusing more on Elijah's ministry. Fire consumes a lot of people in these books, because there were people that wanted to try and bring down the kingdom of Judah (surprise surprise), so the new king of Israel (Ahab's son) wants to know if he will recover from an injury he received. So he consults people in cohorts with false gods, and manages to learn that he will die in the bed he lays in. Elijah is the one who fortold this. So messengers were going out to meet him, and then fire came down from heaven and consumes them.

I wish in my heart of hearts that we could see God like he was in these books. People who think that they are so much better off without God, how great would it be to see people trust and obey in the God of Heaven and Earth and know that he is good, and that he loves them by the fire that consumes those against him? That would be a sight to behold because the proof would be there right in front of their eyes!

More tomorrow.

5 Days closer! (365 Project through Day 194)

I haven't devoted as much time as I should, and as such there is only 1 picture I have taken myself. Life is moving forward so you will see all of the interests I have come to have during my time, some foods I have been eating, and some movies I have been seeing (wow, I'm like a poet now)

Anyway, here are the pictures. The last one will be seperate in another post.

First and foremost, that is the most amazing cake you will ever eat in your life. If I were to be on the show "Best Thing I Ever Ate" on Food Network, this would be one of those things. Too Jay's restaurant in Florida is like a Jewish New York Deli kind of restaurant. They have bagels and lox, matzo ball soup, and then there's this holy slice of goodness, The Banana Dream Cake. It is a banana custard (or possibly buttercream) with banana-flavored cake (that has chocolate chips in it) and it has chocolate on the outside with more chocolate chips and walnuts. If you ever want to have the best dessert you will ever eat in your life, I suggest you try this cake!!!

Second, this is a piece of my personal history. What was arguably an amazing summer, in all possibly ways, this was my junior year of high school, and the mission trip that we went on to Reynosa, Mexico. I was 17 in that picture, it's kind of hard not to figure out which one is me. This all happened 7 years ago!!!!! Thanks to my good friend Maria Hoffman for bringing together memories I haven't thought about in a long time. I am sure that somewhere, there are people that have pictures of me from when I was 13 years old, which would scare me to death if I saw them again.

Third, movies!!!! I have been to plenty of movies this summer but here was one that I enjoyed. I was out with my nephews and got to see Despicable Me! The little yellow guys are the villian Gru's minions, and they are hysterical. They are what make the movie so funny, if you haven't see Despicable Me, I suggest you take the time to go see it.

Fourth and Finally (for now), here is a picture of the people I am facing in Pokemon Diamond version. I haven't played many video games. There used to be a time when I would play games like Legend of Zelda, or Guitar Hero, but seeing as though I don't play games as often as I now do, I went to gamestop and traded the majority of my games (much to the disappointment of other family members, sorry) and got new games. Diamond version was one of those trades that guitar hero, super smash bros brawl, and super mario galaxy were able to get me. It really isn't that big of a deal because now, I don't have to worry about the time i am wasting. These are the villians in the Sinnoh region of Pokemon (Team Galactic) much like Team Rocket in the original versions of the game, you see them cause trouble and the main character has to fix it.

I really do like playing video games, it's just that ever since I have gotten home from college, my desire to play video games has dropped significantly, and now I just find myself playing the DS...it is a great place to be, when you realize you are getting too old for video games.

More is to come, so stay tuned.

The Finale of Summer awaits

Today makes it officially 2 weeks until the summer comes to an end. August 9th marks the very last day that I have down here in Florida. This summer couldn't have been longer. But at the same time, it feels like it was short. I left Kentucky after graduation on May 8th, and spent the summer back home in Florida, traveling with my parents, going to Orlando and to New York. I was able to see 2 plays this summer (Cats and the Lion King), and I have been reading books.

I want to keep reading as much as I possibly can. I feel like I have missed out on a lot of good opportunities, but I will keep reading, even into the school year as often as I can. This is why I am only taking a certain type of things with me to seminary, like my Nintendo DS, and a small amount of movies. I won't even take my Wii or PS2 with me, those are going to be put away for safe-keeping. I want to focus more on my school work, and reading a lot of books, not just for school, but to limit the time I spend watching movies and stuff like that. I have seen people play with video games, I remember walking into apartments on the housing tour and seeing a lot of movies and video games, which is okay, but I would much rather start getting my interests into books that will build me up.

This summer, these are the books I have read:

WHITE by Ted Dekker
GREEN by Ted Dekker

Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Elliot (poem book that the musical Cats is based off of)

I am trying to go through a lot more books before August 10th, when I leave for Texas, and plus I will have time while I am in Austin to do some more reading.

Overall I have been blessed, I feel blessed tremendously, and i won't let anyone say anything to bring me down. My God is a God who sees all things and sees my heart, I am blessed and I am loved.

I pray that you all enjoy your summer. For my Boyce Readers, I am praying for this coming year of school. Enjoy what is left of your summer.

READ BOOKS! Go to the movies! Do things you wouldn't think you would do!
It is all worth it! The summer doesn't last forever, after all.

365 Project pictures (up to day 190) 10 more days til 200

Eventually I am going to need to get a new camera because the pictures I have been taking aren't even mine (This isn't JUST about being lazy). A 6-year old digital camera doesn't exactly cut it when it comes to taking pictures. I mean that camera only has 3 megapixels on it. I could get a camera at best buy these days for half that price and 3x the amount of megapixels on it. The keyword in this situation is EVENTUALLY as in not right now, and not 3 years from now, EVENTUALLY I will get a new camera. More than likely it will be this coming semester at Southwestern, so we will have to see. This past week has been an emotional roller coaster ride for me. I am struggling personally to keep up with my quiet time, and to think as a whole. I am just grateful for my salvation in Jesus. I was at the doctors today, and I felt God speaking to me. Just to trust in him, and to rejoice in the good things. I had been dwelling on bad things at the time. I was sitting in the exam room waiting to see the doctor, looking out the window of the 14th floor of this building in downtown west palm looking out at the ocean and the view, and I felt at peace.

Anyway, that is my main reasons for not keeping up with the pictures. I mean there's not much to pictures of food from PANERA BREAD, SUBWAY, Jillian and Bob from Biggest Loser, and a picture of the wolves from wolf's rain. More than likely I will keep posting pictures from the internet, until i get a good opportunity with my cell phone. I will probably be using that camera for a while. We'll see...

In the meantime, enjoy my lethargic attempt at being a photo-blogger

Going the Distance

This isn't a blog post about CAKE or Michael Bolton (that would be nice) but this is more of a personal reflection piece. I feel like I am supposed to be sharing more and more of the triumphs I am experiencing in my life right now. I have been out of high school now for 6 years, and I have been out of college now for 2 1/2 months, in that time, I have discovered so much about who I am as a person, and when I look at the time I had while I was in high school, there were times where I just wanted to cringe and wish that these events never happened. I used to have a horrible habit of latching onto people who made me feel safe and comfortable, but I had to move on and grow up. Sure, the people in my life back then had trouble understanding someone with a legitimate problem. I have aspergers syndrome and as such I have ackward social skills, and some IGNORANT people will often consider the fact that my behavior was just a way to act out and get attention, and wouldn't even dare take the chance to try and figure out what was making me the way that I was. Aspergers Syndrome is a form of Autism. Not as severe as some of the forms of it, but I'm sorry I haven't been truthful with some people about having a learning disability, you'd probably never know it, unless I had said something. I never think of myself as different from anyone else. It just takes me longer to get things done than some people. I thought a lot about sharing this on my blog after I watched a movie on Hallmark Channel called "FRONT OF THE CLASS" about a man named Brad Cohen (based on a true story, btw)

He grew up with Tourettes Syndrome. He was ridiculed by his teachers and classmates, and school was difficult for him because of his illness. But he triumphed. He grew up learning to cope with his condition, and he ended up becoming a 2nd grade teacher in Atlanta. He didn't let anything stop him from obtaining his dream of teaching, and this is the same for me. I will never view my Asperger's as a crutch or a reason to not try my best to get something accomplished. I will perservere, I will grow deeper in my walk with the Lord, and I will be a great tool for God's Glory, that is the purpose of this post, to show people that there is nothing that is going to stop me from being great. In my mind, I know God will deal with the people who have seen me with ignorant hearts, and that comforts me, because the battle is not my own battle it is God's battle and that's all that matters.

I have also prayed for my nephew who has Aspergers (I love you so much). I pray that as you grow up that you love Jesus with all your heart and know that we all love you with all our hearts.

I write this in dedication of people who are struggling with their disabilities, with their handicaps, you can succeed, all you have to do is trust that God will be there to sustain you through you hardships. He is there! Depend on him!

Dreaming of Fujisan

Okay, so I am getting ideas in my head after watching some videos of other people climbing Mt. Fuji and making it to the top. Okay yes, I did climb Mt. Fuji while I was in Japan last year, but I DIDN'T make it to the top. Someday, when I return to Japan, and I am like 75 pounds thinner, and in a lot better shape (like built) I will try it again. I honestly don't care that I didn't make it to the top (at the time) I was exhausted. Mt. Fuji is 12000 feet. That is from the base to the top. There's like a forest road that will go from the bottom to the top, and I started from station 5. So someday soon, I will do this all over again.

FLASHDEVO - Grand finale of 1st Kings (9-22)

I know it's been a while, but I should have taken my NLT Bible with me while I was in Orlando this past weekend. It never gets old, there is so much going on in Orlando you could do so much without doing the same thing twice. Anyway, I had left off in 1st Kings, after Solomon had built the temple...it had just been dedicated.

This is why you need to keep track of your devotions, because you will very easily fall behind with them, even if you don't intend to do so...

The following covers Chapters 9-22 of 1st Kings (basically the entire book)

One thing I wish I could find, (If i knew what it was and how to find it is this book)

THE BOOK OF THE ACTS OF SOLOMON
it's like extra-Biblical material, in that it is not canon of scripture but it is substantial information that could give someone insight to the life of a certain person, like Solomon. HOWEVER, be cautious about books about Jesus that aren't cannon, because you could be dealing with stuff that was made up. (It is mentioned in Chapter 11 of 1st Kings) and it caught my attention.

Chapter 9 and Chapter 10 discuss how Solomon was building up his kingdom and laying the groundwork for what would eventually become his downfall, his desire to love any woman he could possibly get his hands on. However, as a result of the wisdom that Solomon does ask the Lord for, he is able to succeed in everything that he does.

Chapter 11
As of now, he has made all of these alliances with people, and pledged himself to God saying that he would follow in his ways. But then all of the trouble starts happening. Solomon begins to marry women who worship Gods other than Elohim, and because of that, Solomon's devotion to God faltered and God said that he would divide Solomon's kingdom among his enemies.

It is no secret that in layman's terms, Solomon was a LADY'S MAN. He had 1000 women in his life (700 wives and 300 concubines). It was made very very clear to Solomon by God that if he were to marry other women from other countries with false deities, that he would end up following after them and wouldn't be truly devoted to Jehovah. That is exactly what happened because Solomon's devotion to his wives caused him to build altars to these gods around Jerusalem. Solomon then has enemies that were raised up around him. It was also foretold that Solomon would still reign over Jerusalem, but because he hadn't been completely obedient to God, the kingdom would be divided among other tribes.

Chapter 12

Here is where all of the trouble starts for Solomon's family because it is here that you see his son Rehiboam rejecting counsel from higher authorities (elders) and looking for the advice of people his own age. It's really funny because after talking with these young advisers, there was a time when they suggested to make golden calves!!!!! (Much like the ones the Hebrews had made in the wilderness CF. Book of Exodus) Sin is a great corrupter. Take it from those who have made thousands of years worth of mistakes because of it. It ruins people and ruins their judgment, and end up making poor choices as a result. Rehoboam is over thrown and Jeroboam becomes king.

Chapter 13

Years after Solomon, we encounter Jeroboam. He is the one who has his dynasty destroyed because Josiah would become king next. There were prophets who saw his downfall, and said that he had completely disobeyed God. The sins of the father as some people call it. This all had to do with David, not only Solomon, but David. David's descendants would be destined for a life of rebellion, and it was made very clear through all of their circumstances. Someone else had taken the throne from the son of Solomon, and then prophets saw someone else who would take the throne, (Josiah) and gave him what he needed to have.

Just listen to how his end came about:

Even after this, Jeroboam did not change his evil ways, but once more appointed priests for the high places from all sorts of people. Anyone who wanted to become a priest he consecrated for the high places. This was the sin of the house of Jeroboam that led to its downfall and to its destruction from the face of the earth. (v. 33-34)

Chapter 14

Sin runs deep and it ruins things. This is an example of what happens. In this chapter, Jeroboam wanted to try and push things in Israel so they would go in his favor. His son Abijah had fallen ill. So his wife went to see Ahijah (replace the B with an H) to plead for her son, disguised as someone else. But the Lord had warned this prophet about the oncoming deception and gave him words to speak to Jeroboam's wife. She was told that the boy would indeed die.

Rehoboam was king over Judah during this time (Solomon's son) and he had done what was evil in God's eyes, but because he was the son of Solomon, God chose to allow members of Solomon's family (like descendants to remain as leaders)...Abijah becomes the king of Judah after Rehoboam.

Chapter 15

THE BOOK OF THE ANNALS OF THE KINGS OF ISRAEL

It is going to be interesting for me to find out where these books are. If they even exist anymore. I have been to Israel twice and there is this place in Jerusalem called the temple institute. If there were ever such books or records (I mean if they are replicas) maybe they would be there. Most of the records of Israel were destroyed during the Roman siege in 70AD. It would just be great to see how much history there is to this magnificent country.

It wasn't always a magnificent country. There was much to be told about the rulers considering that there were now 2 kingdoms because of Solomon, in previous chapters we read about Jeroboam's family and how there was divisions and how they had fell. Well in this chapter, his family is done away with, and you hear the famous name Jehoshaphat. As always in these books of history you see that there is intense warfare and such...

Chapter 16

There must be something tainted in the waters around Jerusalem because we are seeing multiple people become king over Israel. But Israel would have been the northern kingdom. The lands were divided. This all happens while Asa is king over Judah, the northern lands have been dealing with such turmoil that there are several different people reigning over the land during this time. You don't see much of the positives coming out of this area, because the whole time, Judah (the Southern Kingdom) is the one who is rejoicing in God's goodness because they are the obedient people who trust in all that God does for them. Now though, the story of 1st Kings takes a dramatic shift in the person who becomes the next major prophet.

Elijah's Ministry Begins

-It's amazing to see how God is using the prophets over again. In the books of Samuel, it was Samuel who was the big shot prophet, and now we are taking a look at the life of Elijah, another major player in the grand story of history.

Chapter 17

Elijah is an exciting example to me to see how God works. He provides for just about everything we could possibly need. God commands ravens to give Elijah food, and then he comes across a widow woman and her son, and he asks of her to provide food, and much like the New Testament where we see Jesus perform miracles that provided food for thousands of people, Elijah had the same thing happen to him. This woman said she had a jar filled with flour and with oil, and was able to cook food for Elijah and her family, and even though there wasn't that much, it lasted until rain came upon the land. How amazing and Great is our God!

Chapter 18

Here we are presented with the problem. Elijah has been commanded by God to go to King Ahab (of Israel, the north kingdom). Ahab has a prophet of God working for the palace, Obidiah. He has been secretly helping prophets escape from a plot that Queen Jezebel had to kill them. It succeeds because Elijah later has the opportunity to prove God's greatness by bringing down fire from heaven.

I remembering hearing some pastor friends tell me that 1st Kings 18 is the best example in Scripture of trash-talk. Elijah is saying that maybe Baal is sleeping or maybe he doesn't care about you, provoking the people that followed Baal to make their pleas louder, but to no avail. It was only when Elijah declared to be a follower of God that the fire came down from heaven and the truth was set straight, the God of Israel was the God that needed to be worshiped, and that He is Who He is.

Chapter 19

Here is where we see God deciding to call people into his work. Elijah has been successful in what he had been doing to serve the Lord, and God is deciding to start doing things a little bit differently. He sends Elijah signs of turmoil like earthquakes and fire, just so he can get it across that he wants this Elisha (again replacing letters for name changes), so now he will serve the Lord as a prophet, and he was obedient to what God had told him through Elijah, and became Elijah's attendant.

Chapter 20

Going back and forth from character to character and location to location has proven to be the norm in scripture. I find it sort of confusing but it helps show the great picture of the overall book. Here we see what is happening again with the disobedience of the people of the North, and the people start receiving warnings about what would happen to them. Ahab's downfall is prophesied in this chapter as we see what will transpire in the finale of this book, but he is still very disobedient to God and as such, he doesn't understand the consequences for his actions, but he will, very soon!

Chapter 21

Ahab has issues. That is the truth that I drew out of reading this chapter. In similar ways, David decides to take away something from someone else. Ahab wants the vineyard of a man in Samaria, and didn't want to back down from this desire, so his wife helped him out. She tricked people into bringing Naboth (the owner of the vineyard) to a dinner, and accused him of wronging the king and had him stoned to death. He was doings o much wrong because Elijah later confronts Ahab in the vineyard about this. When he warns Ahab of what is to come, he humbles himself before God and is spared from any harm, but Elijah said that Ahab's descendants would suffer because of his actions.

Chapter 22

HERE WE GO, THE ENDING OF THIS BOOK!!!!

A great battle is about to begin. Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah is debating whether to attack Ramoth Gilead, he had prophets talk about the outcomes of the battle and what would happen if the attack were to occur, needless to say; God is on the side of the people that serve him and Jehoshaphat becomes the victor. He was in disguise during the battle but everything that the Lord had prophesied in previous chapters came true! Dogs licked up Ahab's blood after he was buried. The Bible is not a pleasant book at times, there is gore, there is violence, and there is important truths in the middle. Jehoshaphat had followed what God had wanted him to do, and was obedient, and his reign was one that God looked down upon, meanwhile the kingdom of Israel in the north was always having problems and were being disobedient.

So in conclusion, the things I have drawn from kings is how to be obedient to what God is saying in your life and realize that you must trust that God knows what he is doing even when it doesn't seem popular to do what is right.

Be Blessed.

A night for INCEPTION

I just went out tonight to the movies, I got to see INCEPTION, starring Leonardo DiCaprio (from Titanic and Blood Diamond) and Ellen Page (from Juno). If you have seen a movie like The Prestige, then you will know how crazy the plots can get in these movies. Well this was the kind of movie you have to be paying absolute attention to, and it will make sense, I found it thrilling and enjoyable. The concept is about dreams, and how people tap into those dreams. I was at downtown disney yet again when I saw this movie, and i wanted to use it as my picture for the day. Today is 186...

365 Project Pictures for days 182-184

Here is just an update of what i have been doing. Remember those tomatoes I took pictures of earlier in the summer? Well those tomatoes produced some seeds that we planted in a pot on the back patio...

Plus I finally decided to take a decent picture of me...In black and white...on PhotoBooth for a change...

Another shot I got (with my phone) was a failed attempt at a stunt show done at HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS in Disney. It was a car-like stunt show, and it was absolutely rained out, so we left early and got out of the park...fun day for the most part.

Vacation blog (part 2)

Hello from Orlando. I am enjoying my time here, just sitting and relaxing, and enjoyed a free day at Disney, (from a 3-day pass from last month's trip). So today I went over to the pool, read some of EXPERIENCING GOD by Henry Blackaby, and went out to the movies to see THE SORCEROR'S APPRENTICE...

Based off of the original cartoon from FANTASIA in 1940, the modern twist of the movie follows the apprentice of Balthazar Blake, a sorceror who was once apprentice to Merlin, the greatest sorceror of all...It takes place in modern times, and has a ton of amazing special effects and a very well-done story.

Here is the picture for today in the 365 Project, which is day 185...

the other pictures are next...
STAY TUNED.

College Graduation

I started a Picasa album account so click on the link to see pictures from my graduation if you haven't already.

My blog is getting a major facelift right now and I hope that all of these gadgets will do it some good.

A bloggers explanation

I know a lot of people out there write these fancy blogs and make all of this statements that they are doing it for the Glory of God, so I had to explain my blog a little bit better. I know that I am not living in Japan right now, and that the subject matter isn't concerning much having to do with Japan, but the blog has to do with my life and the experiences I have each and every day. The 365 project is a year-long endeavor I have to take a picture (even if 3/4 of the time they aren't mine) I still do it. Writing is truly my life. There are people out there who live to play guitar, sing, or paint (like my awesome older brother)

check out his blog...

http://reaction-studios.com/inprogress/

Me however, I write. Writing is my life. I write poetry, I blog, I even wrote a book!!!! I don't write blogs hoping that people will read them. I mean people see my blog on facebook all the time, it's just if I don't write, I feel like my life won't have a purpose. I write for the Glory of God. Someday the blog will have greater depth as the subject matter fits the title of the blog but for now, enjoy the journey with the pictures (camera/phone/internet pics) and enjoy reading what I read in scripture through my flashdevos and the devotional reviews from Charles Spurgeon.

I finally checked out a blog that trumps mine in every way. To the people that write on it, I think it is the coolest blog I have ever seen in my life, and I have to give you some credit for what you do, I mean after all I am only an amateur.

The Temple in Jerusalem (Flashdevo for 1 Kings 5-8)

1 Kings 5

At this point in history, there wasn't yet a temple in Israel for the worshipping of God and originally, everyone had thought that it was going to be David who would have built the temple, but then Solomon becomes the king. In this chapter Solomon makes an alliance with Hiram, the king of Tyre. He writes to Hiram asking for his help and sends down cedar logs to be brought to Jerusalem to build the temple. Because of this message, this alliance was made, and each ruler helped out one another.

1 Kings 6

This chapter details the temple in all of its grandeur. It describes the dimensions of the temple. I am thinking in my mind that the temple is this massive huge building, but in reality, it probably wouldn't be much bigger than a regular church building we'd see in the U.S. I might even equate the temple in size to my home church, FBC of West Palm. However, I doubt that FBC would be covered in gold statues of cherubs and be the place where the Ark of the Covanent rests. The temple took 7 years to build. The temple was also dedicated 480 years after the Israelites fled Egypt during their slavery days.

1 Kings 7

I remember from my Ancient Near East History class that Solomon had made a mistake when he had built his palace because instead of spending more time on the Temple of God, he took more time to build his palace. It took Solomon an extra 6 years to build this palace, as opposed to building the Temple of the Lord. I feel that taking that time away from God is giving Solomon the idea that it is okay to disrespect God, when all along, he should have been switching the lengths of time around. This chapter details the specifics of Solomon's palace, the layout of the rooms, etc. And it sounds massive! The man has pillars made out of bronze in the palace! You want to talk about trumping someone... let's compare Saddam Hussein's former palace in Baghdad to the palace that Solomon has in Jerusalem, and you'll see that Solomon's was more lavish.

Solomon had ordered craftsmen to help him build furnishings for the temple, that were made out of gold and bronze. This was important because the use of precious metals shows reverence to God and that he is valuable to the people...

1st Kings 8

This chapter is a list of prayers and petitions that Solomon is asking God to answer on behalf of his father David. Solomon's wisdom is so that he can guide Israel through dark times that lie ahead for the nation, and you can see in this chapter (Verses 23-52) how he cries out to God for his help.

Also in this chapter, the temple is dedicated.

The 365 Project - Days 180-181

I have finally found a picture to top all the other ones I have previously taken. I was out with my mom and aunt walking along the streets in Palm Beach, over the bridge, and the sun happened to be setting. Yesterday this was. I was out with my family going to church, we decided we would take a walk around town, finally going to the beach like I said I would, and took this absolutely stunning picture of the sunset.

The second picture was part of a very big tradition I have with my family. This was when me and my aunt went out to the movies and also went out shopping, where I got some new tee shirts at American Eagle Outfitters, and then went out to go see the movie Knight and Day with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, which was really good, I don't know what people thought when they said it wasn't as good as it was supposed to have been, but I truly enjoyed the movie.

The continuing story of King Solomon is next in Chapters 5-8 of 1st Kings...

The 365 Project Pictures 175-179

I hate it when I get to this point in my blog because I have had several posts where there are more than 2 pictures...I want there to be one picture, 1 post, plus a flashdevo in there, instead of 5 pictures and explanations, but I will be getting along with that shortly.

I watch the show America's Got Talent, and unfortunately I couldn't find a picture with all 3 of the judges, so I could only find Sharon Osbourne with her husband Ozzy. She has been doing a great job on the show, and I had to make an homage to her on my blog. I can't wait to watch the competition beginning this week on NBC.

Another thing that I am missing in my life is one of my favorite TV shows, also on NBC, ER. There are a few TV shows out there that I have seen for the majority of my life, and ER is the second show, the first is The Simpsons. ER came out when I was 8, and the Simpsons, when I was 4. ER had 15 seasons, and I am waiting patiently for there to be a 15-season box set for the show. This is a picture of the original cast, which was in 1994. George Clooney (who was part of the original cast) has become an Oscar-winning actor since then. Maybe by 2011/2012 it will be out, we will see...

After having sold a lot of my stuff on Half.com, I went out with the earnings and bought myself the new video game Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4. I have gotten far along with the game and am still going to work my way through it, I will have to save part of the game for the trip to Austin in August. This is a clip from the game, however, it won't appear on a Nintendo DS because of the graphics.

Because my family from New York/Pennsylvania are in town this week, I was under the impression that we would uphold the traditions of our family and have spaghetti and meatballs. But I was fully prepared for that to happen on sunday, and it happened on saturday, as it was diminished to a BAR-B-SHOE...(which is the way to pronounce it in Italian). I was expecting to come home from church on Sunday to sit down as a family toa big pot of gravy, but those days are far behind me.

Here is one of the best pictures I have of the family while they were here. 4 boys and 1 girl under the age of 15, my two nephews and my cousin Rosalie's three kids, Gavin, and the twins Kaylie and Aidan. The 4 boys were out playing lightsabers they had made with pool noodles, and I had to take a picture of their father teaching the boys how to use lightsabers. Too fun...

FLASHDEVO - Another Era Begins - KING SOLOMON

I had to gather my thoughts before I could get along with writing out the flashdevos...

1 Kings 1-4

David's reign as King is finally over, and the book of 1st Kings marks the beginning of the reign of King Solomon, David's son, whose mother is Bathsheeba. She ensures that David's older son doesn't become king, since he was involved with Absalom while he was still alive to conspire against David. He would stop at nothing until the crown was his, but Bathsheeba convinces David before he dies that he should give the throne to Solomon, which he does, and all of the men involved with David's other son were executed.

Solomon has a dream in which God speaks to him, and Solomon was asked by the Lord what he wanted and Solomon replied that he wanted great wisdom from God. So God granted him what he asked for and his kingdom began to prosper. Please keep reading on as Solomon's temple will be built and you will see how his reign gains power....

The 365 Project - Day 174

Today was a good day for all the Golden Girls fans out there. Hallmark Channel had an all day marathon of good episodes of the show. Betty White is the only remaining member of the cast. She is 88 years old, and I pray that she knows the Lord. Hope you all are having a great day.

Be blessed.

GRACE AND PEACE

The 365 Project Pictures 169-173 (174 in seperate post)

I am getting along in pictures, all of which have some stories to tell behind them...

I was with my mom on June 30th, after having seen Twilight Saga: Eclipse, to have dinner before going to church for Bible Study and saw this picture on a menu of IHOP. There are basically no customers at IHOP after 5:00. Breakfast is that restaurant's forte, and sometimes you will get good service for dinner (which we did), it was sad being the only people there. The picture is for the endorsement that the movie Despicable Me is getting from IHOP.

Here is a picture from the campaign that Chosen People Ministries in New York started. The ministry is getting a lot of publicity by this Messianic Prophecy campaign on Isaiah 53. This was a poster that I had made into my profile picture.

On Friday, me and my mom spent the day together after work. We had gone to see Toy Story 3, a great movie BTW, and on the way out of the movie theater, we watch as cops surround a car, guns pointing at the people in the car, and make an arrest. There must have been about 6 cars by this one entrance to the Boynton Beach Mall I really wasn't counting.

Saturday was a cool day, I was with my mom and we went around to look at some new furniture pieces for our house. This metal fish decoration now sits on the table in the living room by the front door.

Sunday I was bored. I know it was the Fourth of July. I was eating hamburgers like any good American should be, but I have picked up the habit of playing Pokemon games, and I was playing the Diamond Version, and this was Dialga, the legendary Pokemon that controls the flow of Time...he is also on the cover on the game. This picture is from the game Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Dialga is one of the focal points on the level "Spear Pillar". He will send blasts of fire and light, knocking your opponents off the stage if you get too close...

The really real Grand Finale of 2nd Samuel (17-24) Part 2

I made an approach almost like these movie makers are doing with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and broke my FLASHDEVO into 2 parts, so here, finally is the conclusion to the story that is the Life of King David. This took me a few days, as my ADD kicks in most of the time and I find myself getting so very easily distracted.
I promise, this is the ending of 2nd Samuel...

Chapter 17

Absalom has been preparing an army to fight against his father David, and now David's advisers are warning him to take action and to save himself by running, but David still plans to face his son. David's advisor had been sent to Absalom to make him think he was being loyal to Absalom but was still loyal to David secretly. When Absalom shames him before the kingdom, he returns to his home, and hangs himself for fear of dishonor.

Chapter 18
Absalom's Finale (defeated and killed)

Even in the extreme fact that Absalom had rebelled against his father, David still loved his son, said he would love his son no matter what it was that he had done. He was found dangling in an oak tree, and David's men were afraid to kill Absalom. They thought that he wouldn't be able to deal with the blame for that death if the King had stopped them, but he was killed regardless. With a sword through the heart. David weeps bitterly over his son, saying "MY SON, MY SON!" that he was dead.

Chapter 19

The aftermath of Absalom's death, David is still struggling over his loss, and his servants approach him and say that they should celebrate the fact that David now sits once again on the throne of Israel, rather than mourn this loss. David manages to come back to Jerusalem and also gives much honor to the servant who had helped out Saul's grandson, Ziba and even offers redemption to the man who stoned David along the way out of Jerusalem. An argument begins to develop over how David is lacking in leadership over Israel, and people are saying that someone else should be their king.

Chapter 20

David is still trying to pick up the pieces of his broken kingdom at this point. There are still those in Israel who weren't faithful to David, and wanted to rise up against him. David takes precautions to protect his livelihood, by putting his 10 concubines under guard. The chapter says that they are widowed, and David never lies down with them again. A man named Sheba is the one who is making this revolt against David, and he finds his end from a group of women who cut off his head! Epic ending to his life.

Chapter 21

7 sons! That is what a group of people the Gibeonites wanted from David in response to their harsh treatment they received at the hand of Saul. Unbelievably in this chapter, despite thinking that things in Israel will stay silent, there are yet more battles against the Philistines. David of course defeats all of the Philistines, and walks away in victory, proving that God is still with him.

Chapter 22

You want a very clear depiction of what David thinks of God when he is worshiping, then read this. David was rejoicing that God had delivered him from the hands of his enemies and from Saul. I still to this day cannot understand that. Saul was a mad who was tormented by an evil spirit and felt jealous that God had anointed David instead of him. David chooses to weep when Saul is killed, and he also serves the descendants of Saul, faithfully. He didn't have to do all of this, but he was being faithful to the Lord, and chose to do it anyway.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
3 my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
and my place of safety.
He is my refuge, my savior,
the one who saves me from violence.
4 I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
and he saved me from my enemies.

5 “The waves of death overwhelmed me;
floods of destruction swept over me.
6 The grave[a] wrapped its ropes around me;
death laid a trap in my path.
7 But in my distress I cried out to the Lord;
yes, I cried to my God for help.
He heard me from his sanctuary;
my cry reached his ears.

8 “Then the earth quaked and trembled.
The foundations of the heavens shook;
they quaked because of his anger.
9 Smoke poured from his nostrils;
fierce flames leaped from his mouth.
Glowing coals blazed forth from him.
10 He opened the heavens and came down;
dark storm clouds were beneath his feet.
11 Mounted on a mighty angelic being,[b] he flew,
soaring[c] on the wings of the wind.
12 He shrouded himself in darkness,
veiling his approach with dense rain clouds.
13 A great brightness shone around him,
and burning coals[d] blazed forth.
14 The Lord thundered from heaven;
the voice of the Most High resounded.
15 He shot arrows and scattered his enemies;
his lightning flashed, and they were confused.
16 Then at the command of the Lord,
at the blast of his breath,
the bottom of the sea could be seen,
and the foundations of the earth were laid bare.

2 Samuel 22:2-16 (NLT)

David understands this as vital to his existence, and even makes mention that his descendants will be anointed, showing that this was a sacred blessing that would be with Joseph, the husband of Mary, when Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. The Messiah will come from the Line of David!

Chapter 23

David's Last Words

It's interesting that this part of the chapter has this heading above it, because you'll see in Kings (if you are expecting me to hide the fact that he dies) David is old in the beginning of Kings and looks for a successor.

This chapter tells that David knows that his end is drawing to a close, so you hear more about the people that serve around David rather than the actual family. You hear of the great warriors known as "THE THIRTY" and then there are those that are among them. "The Three" the Three are the greatest of all of David's warriors. It talks about them defeating and killing hundreds of men from other regions and how they are all faithful to David.

Interestingly enough, "THE THIRTY" actually has 37 members in it.

Chapter 24 - THE END HAS COME

The Census

Wow, it's funny, since we took a census in our country this year, and how you read about how David does it...

In today's society, the Census is a piece of paper you mail back to Washington DC, our country's capitol, and it gets added into data which totals up official numbers, this is done in a matter of days!

In the time of David, it took 9 months and 20 days...
Israel had 800,000 capable warriors and Judah had 500,000. These would be men who would be able to fight.

David had sinned by making this count, because the anger of the Lord was stirring, and as a result, the Lord sends an angle to offer David a choice of 3 possible punishments! Wow, that's a scary thought for me. The penalty of our sin is bad enough, so why would we choose to pick a punishment. David does the census, and it causes the Lord to bring a plague that lasted 3 days and killed 70,000 people. He had built an alter to make burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord, who finally stopped the plague.

That's it!

This is the end of the road for David, and now you begin to hear the stories of his future, his descendants. You will learn about the end of David's life and how Solomon becomes king over Israel.

The lesson from 2nd Samuel, and from 1st Samuel is...
God seeks after those who are faithful to him. David was that man because he was righteous and because he was willing to follow what God wanted for his life, even in the midst of a horrific sin, God chose to act justly with David.

I hope you have enjoyed reading the Flashdevos for these chapters, and I will be working to start 1st Kings tonight...so please keep on reading.

GRACE AND PEACE!!!!!
And praise God for him using people like David to fulfill his purpose!

Diversion from the 365 Project

Tonight is like a monumentous occasion for me. Granted, it is July 4th, and the fireworks are half the fun, but today is a personal history day. Again, for those of you faithful readers out there, today is the day that my family literally moved to Florida. On July 3, 1999, we attempted to drive from my aunt's house in Yorktown Heights to catch the Amtrak AutoTrain just outside of Washington DC in Virginia and we missed it, forcing us to spend the night in a hotel, and then leave on July 4th to take the train down.

THAT WAS 11 YEARS AGO!!!!!!
Time really does fly.

Rejoice in our freedom that God's son gave us when he gave his life for us...
Remember the men and women who fight for our Country's freedom in the armed services...
Pray for our president that he will take action and make wise choices for this country...

THE GRAND FINALE OF SAMUEL (FLASHDEVO - 2 Samuel 15-24) Part 1

At first I had just fallen behind with my posts...AGAIN! But now I am back on track. I decided to wait a little bit before I was going to finish the book because I literally decided that I had been in these books long enough and I wanted to see what happens in the end. These books have brought a great amount fo wisdom because I have learned that no matter how far you go to try and fool God and cover up sin, IT AIN'T GONNA WORK!!!! David had become this absolutely overwhelming sinner, disobeying God and his children became rebellious, especially after the things that Nathan had said to David. As I wrote in previous posts about David's son Absalom, you can see that things are about to be made worse. Absalom is the king over Hebron, since that is where he is hiding.

Chapter 15

Absalam prepares his rebellion against his father in this chapter. He gathers men to leave David (whom they had been serving faithfully) to begin a rebellion against him out in the desert and David flees Jerusalem. David pauses to worship the Lord, he took the ark of the covenant with him, he looks back and says "If the Lord sees fit, he will bring me back to see the ark and the Tabernacle again. But if he is through with me, then let him do what seems best to him" (15:25,26 NLT) David walked along the Mount of Olives, mourning he was barefoot and his head was covered. He arranges that Hushai, an Arkite man would become Absalom's advisor. David manages to return to Jerusalem, assuming that his son doesn't know that he is actually there.

Chapter 16

David meets Ziba, Mephibosheth's servant (Saul's Grandson). He had come with two donkeys carrying loads of food and wine, and he explains to David that Mephibosheth wants to reclaim his grandfather's kingdom, and David said to Ziba in response to this, take everything that belongs to Mephibosheth. As he approaches, David is cursed by members of Saul's family, saying that he was a murderor, and the fact that Absalom was the king was basically David getting a "taste of his own medicine", and he came along with David throwing rocks and continuing to curse him. David has schemed against his own son, by making Absalom think that the king's advisor, Ahithophel works for Absalom now. So he instructs Absalom to sleep with one of the kings concubines, since 10 of them guard the palace, and it would be a slap-in-the-face move for Absalom to do to his father.

Okay, I have delayed with this post, so the saving function is kind of sluggish right now, I will have to write more posts and seperate them ;) Keep reading
